About the position

As a Data Scientist at College Raptor, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between algorithm theory and application engineering. Your primary focus will be on the design, analysis, implementation, and optimization of computer algorithms that enhance our product offerings. You will be responsible for writing code that is directly usable in College Raptor applications, ensuring that our new products are launched successfully and provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace. In this role, you will architect machine learning models and design platforms that will empower our Product and Marketing teams with real-time visibility into member usage as they interact with our services. This involves developing a robust data processing pipeline that can handle large volumes of data and provide actionable insights. You will be expected to work independently and collaboratively with remote colleagues to solve undefined problems, demonstrating a fearless and action-oriented attitude. Your expertise in data analysis and engineering will be essential as you tackle complex challenges and contribute to the overall mission of making higher education more affordable and accessible. You will be part of a fast-paced environment, working alongside a cross-functional team of product, technology, and marketing professionals to simplify the user experience and enhance our offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, implement, and optimize computer algorithms.
  • Write code that is usable in College Raptor applications.
  • Architect machine learning models and design platforms for competitive advantage.
  • Develop a data processing pipeline for real-time visibility into member usage.
  • Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to provide actionable insights.
  • Solve undefined problems independently or as part of a team.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of engineering experience using C# and .NET Framework.
  • 4+ years of data analysis experience using R, Matlab, Julia, or Python (NumPy, SciPy, pandas, and scikit-learn).
  • Ability to write code and implement algorithms in College Raptor applications.
  • Experience in data wrangling and handling large datasets.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Hadoop, and environments such as Kafka, Spark, or Storm.
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
