About the position

In partnership with the Data Science team, the Data Scientist I (AI Platform Engineer) supports projects through design and implementation of solutions. Work will be done in a collaborative environment and can include case studies, software design, model development, model validation, results visualization and presentation to stakeholders. This role will work cross-functionally to support data science initiatives leading to key insights and identification of opportunities for both internal and external customers. The focus of this role will be on building connective tissue and deployment infrastructure to optimize our execution capabilities. The expectation is that this resource will spend one day every week working from the Louisville, CO office.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify data science opportunities and solutions
  • Mine and analyze data from company and third-party databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development and business strategies
  • Develop automated data pipelines serving AI, ML and Data science models and applications
  • Understand and maintain AWS deployment technologies
  • Develop custom analysis and/or algorithms utilizing internal and external data sets to deliver insights toward the design of new and improved processes and solutions
  • Assess the effectiveness, accuracy, and limitations of methods and techniques to achieve desired outcomes
  • Adhere to sound software engineering practices
  • Develop robust reusable software infrastructure components
  • Share results with stakeholders and broader organizational community in an easily accessible and understandable way
  • Build solutions that address the needs of a diverse collection of stakeholders

Requirements

  • BS in computer science, applied mathematics, physics or similar scientific or technical field
  • Coding experience with several languages: Python, R, SQL, Matlab, C/C++, etc. and interaction with APIs
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on reusable software development
  • Experience with statistical and data-oriented programming languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git, unit and integration testing
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience working with and creating data structures and abstract data types
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multiple database technologies (e.g. Tabular, Graph, Document, Vector)
  • Desire to grow expertise in MLOps and deployment technologies
