About the position

The Data Scientist position at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) involves providing expert support to the Capability Development Directive of NATO ACT. The role focuses on evaluating data models, optimizing human-computer interfaces, and developing data strategies in collaboration with subject matter experts. The position requires a strong background in data science and analytics, with responsibilities that include data cleansing, requirements management, and staying updated on advancements in data science and AI.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Capability Development Directive of NATO ACT and contribute to the Political Military-Assisted Decision-Making Team.
  • Evaluate the outcomes, veracity, and performance of data models.
  • Engage with target users to prototype and refine human-computer interfaces for data visualization.
  • Specify and apply techniques to clean and format data for use.
  • Review and recommend improvements for data cleansing and reformatting techniques and tools.
  • Define/refine operational, capability, and regulatory requirements, and develop concepts of operation.
  • Construct data strategies in line with the organization's approach to data management.
  • Stay updated with developments in data science and AI to implement innovative ideas.
  • Support the Program Director and travel to meetings and conferences for up to 30 days per year.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Data/Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years of extensive and progressive expertise in data science or related fields
  • Working knowledge of Requirements Management tools for at least 2 years
  • Knowledge of Capability Development and Management processes for at least 2 years
  • Experience in data-focused operations with skills in Machine Learning, AI, or Large Language Models
  • Working knowledge of Computer System of Systems Architectures
  • Experience with data science tools for analytics and visualization
  • Experience in Project Management and Agile methodologies
  • Program Management experience in a complex program environment
  • Successful engagement with project users and stakeholders at NCIA
  • Ability to travel for up to 30 days per year with an active passport.
