About The Position

In this role, you'll apply your knowledge of SQL Server alongside modern data tools and platforms to build and streamline data pipelines, integrate diverse data sources, and ensure our architecture supports both operational and analytical needs, while also supporting our external customers. As a technical leader, you'll work closely with developers and stakeholders to identify the best solutions for their data requirements, combining established practices with innovative advancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration, data engineering or related roles.
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server and Azure data technologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, including complex queries and performance optimization.
  • Strong skills in SQL Server performance tuning, security features, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing cloud-based data solutions using Azure's data platforms.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or R for data manipulation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of defining and implementing the data strategy, collaborating with developers and business stakeholders to assess needs and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT tools while ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
  • Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and enhancements for existing database solutions, including SQL Server environments and legacy applications.
  • Create and maintain data models, data warehouses, and data lakes that integrate seamlessly with both new and legacy data sources.
  • Write, review, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and triggers to support operational and analytical needs.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to database performance, data integrity, and system outages in both new and legacy environments.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in data management; lead initiatives to implement these improvements in both new projects and existing systems.
  • Document processes, architectures, and best practices; provide training or support to team members on both new technologies and legacy systems.
  • Collaborate with customer service team to address data-related issues raised by external customers, ensuring high-quality and reliable data solutions are delivered.
