About the position

The Data Visualization Specialist II (intermediate) or III (Senior) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using tools such as Microsoft Power BI. This role involves translating business requirements into interactive reports and dashboards, ensuring data integrity and accuracy, and collaborating with various stakeholders to provide actionable insights for decision-making within the Cancer Center.

Responsibilities

  • Create interactive and visually appealing dashboards using Power BI.
  • Maintain dataflows, semantic models, reports, and dashboards.
  • Conduct user testing and create technical documentation.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Provide preliminary insights to support business decisions.
  • Work with Cancer Center leaders to understand their data needs.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of reports and dashboards.
  • Update reports and dashboards as needed.
  • Document processes and methodologies for data visualization and reporting.
  • Oversee the creation of interactive dashboards and lead the development of dataflows and reports for senior professionals.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of large datasets to drive strategic business decisions.
  • Integrate various data sources and build complex data models for visualization.
  • Provide advanced training and support to team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 1 year of professional level experience creating and maintaining data visualization solutions for intermediate level.
  • At least two (2) years of professional level experience creating and maintaining data visualization solutions for senior level.
  • Proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, DAX, and Power Query.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications in Power BI, Tableau, or similar application.
  • Experience in systems implementation and end user interactions.
  • Project management or similar experience.
  • Experience with programming languages such as SAS, R, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) and big data technologies.
