The Database Administrator II (DBA) is responsible for implementing, modifying, and deploying software affecting mission critical networks/systems as well as determining ways to organize and store data. The DBA will identify user requirements, set up computer databases, and test and coordinate modifications to the computer database systems. DBA ensures the performance of the system, understands the platform on which the database runs, and adds new users to the system. Finally, the DBA plans and coordinates security measures and has a knowledge of data integrity, backup systems, and database security.

Responsibilities

  • Perform server and storage capacity management and planning for the most complex and critical systems.
  • Recommend and implement process and tool improvements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's change management and configuration management processes and systems.
  • Perform server performance tuning.
  • Confer with management, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
  • Conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.
  • Plan and test capacity requirements.
  • Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.
  • Perform other duties as assigned at the direction of Project Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a Scientific or technical discipline related to the specific skill.
  • No degree + seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • Associate’s degree + five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree + three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience to the specific skill.
  • Ability, training and actual work experience with specific computer language, systems, and/or technology is significantly more important than the number of years of experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with older versions of Oracle, especially Oracle 11g.
  • Advanced Replication experience.
  • Experience with Backup Exec in a Virtual environment.
