The Database Administrator position at GDIT involves a comprehensive role in managing and implementing database systems. The successful candidate will coordinate changes to databases, test and implement these changes, and plan and implement security measures to safeguard computer databases. This role requires the development of standards and user guidelines for database access, as well as modifications to existing databases and database management systems. The Database Administrator will also be responsible for scheduling, planning, and supervising the installation and testing of new products, monitoring database performance, and developing optimum values for database parameters. In addition to these responsibilities, the Database Administrator will specify users and user access levels, identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems, and provide technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment. The role requires a self-starter who can work with minimal oversight and is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and administering databases, including security, access, and documentation. The candidate will analyze customer requirements and provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, applying knowledge of API for data services and databases. The position also involves designing and implementing databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, ETL tasks, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. The Database Administrator will prepare system requirements, source analysis, and process analyses and design throughout the database implementation. This role may also include coaching and providing guidance to less-experienced professionals and serving as a technical team or task lead.
