About the position

BigBear.ai is seeking a Database Administrator to administer, monitor, and optimize SAP HANA database instances to ensure peak performance, availability, and security. The role involves managing database backups, restores, and recovery procedures to ensure business continuity, performing database tuning and troubleshooting to resolve performance issues, and monitoring system health while implementing alerts to avoid disruptions.

• Perform database tuning and troubleshooting to resolve performance issues.
• Monitor system health, implement alerts, and take proactive measures to avoid disruptions.
• Identify and implement database optimizations to improve application performance.
• Analyze database queries, execution plans, and system resources to identify bottlenecks.
• Implement and maintain database partitioning, compression, and other optimization strategies.
• Plan, test, and implement SAP HANA updates, patches, and system upgrades.
• Ensure proper testing and validation of new features and changes.
• Collaborate with other teams to schedule and deploy maintenance with minimal downtime.
• Implement and maintain database security policies, including user access control and data encryption.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal data protection regulations.
• Audit and review database access logs for unauthorized access or security issues.
• Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Assist with the design and implementation of disaster recovery strategies for SAP HANA environments.
• Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, or SQL scripts).
• Develop and maintain monitoring scripts and tools to enhance the efficiency of day-to-day operations.
• Perform capacity planning to anticipate future growth and ensure proper resources are available.
• Monitor database storage and optimize space usage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 5 years of experience (or equivalent work experience).
• 3+ years of experience working as a Database Administrator (DBA) with a focus on SAP HANA.
• Strong proficiency in SAP HANA database architecture, installation, and configuration.
• Hands-on experience with performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability solutions in SAP HANA.
• Experience in working with SAP HANA tools (e.g., SAP HANA Studio, SAP HANA Cockpit, etc.).
• Solid understanding of database security practices and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of SAP HANA monitoring tools and systems (e.g., SAP Solution Manager).
• Proficiency in SQL, and experience with database scripting and automation (Python, Shell, etc.).
• SAP HANA certification (e.g., SAP Certified Technology Associate - SAP HANA).
• Experience with SAP HANA cloud or hybrid environments.
• Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows server administration.
• Familiarity with data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), and data integration concepts.
• Experience with other databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
