About the position
We are seeking an experienced MSSQL DBA with a strong focus on performance tuning. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SQL Server internals and be capable of performing day-to-day database administration tasks. This role requires troubleshooting and providing advice on SQL Server performance issues, collaborating with application development teams to offer recommendations for improvements. The candidate should also have experience in performance tuning and query optimization, utilizing tools such as Performance Monitor and SQL Profiler.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day database administration tasks.
- Troubleshoot SQL Server performance issues.
- Work with application development teams to provide recommendations.
- Optimize queries and tune performance using various tools.
- Administer Azure SQL databases as needed.
- Handle P1/P2 outages effectively.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of SQL Server internals including indexing, partitioning, filestream, Always-On, replication, and mirroring technologies.
- Experience in performance tuning and query optimization.
- Proficiency in using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler, and related monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of relational databases and T-SQL.
- Ability to solve concurrency issues and deadlocks.
- Good communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- MSSQL DBA Certification.
- Excellent automation skills, particularly with PowerShell.
- Experience with other technology support like Delphix, HVR, or RTDS.
Benefits
- Salary range of $90,000-$110,000 a year.
