About the position

Situated in the Law School’s Dean’s Office, the Dean’s Office Administrator provides a broad range of high-level, confidential administrative, financial, and project-related support to the leadership of the Law School, specifically the Dean and Deputy Dean. The Dean’s Office Administrator may also provide administrative support to Human Resources, Events, the Associate Dean for Administration, and the Chief of Staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to the Dean in the absence of the Executive and Administrative Assistant to the Dean.
  • Manages all graduate and undergraduate student employment for the Law School, ensuring labor law and GSU compliance.
  • Assists the Events department with event planning, event preparation, and event execution for student, faculty and staff events.
  • Researches topics, facilitates communication and manages projects for Law School Deans and leadership.
  • Prepares summary reports, complex spreadsheets, materials and information for meetings.
  • Processes expenses, reimbursements, event and travel arrangements for the Deans.
  • Proofreads and copyedits written materials prior to publication or distribution.
  • Creates and implements office process improvements.
  • Assists Deans with administrative matters related to teaching, scholarship, curriculum planning, and faculty recruitment and onboarding.
  • Prepares special reports and summaries, assists in managing daily operation of the office, and may assist in developing administrative goals and policies.
  • Maintains the leader's calendar, exercising considerable discretion and judgment as to priorities and effective use of the leader's time.
  • Initiates correspondence and other written materials under own signature or for signature of the leader.
  • Triages emails and telephone calls for action.
  • Resolves routine and complex inquiries.
  • May act as liaison to Board of Directors.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education settings strongly preferred.
