About the position

As a Decision Science Analyst Senior at USAA, you will play a crucial role in providing data insights to support the P&C Claims business, specifically focusing on auto physical damage analytics. This position involves applying advanced analytical techniques to address complex business problems, drawing actionable insights from data, and communicating findings to influence business strategy and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage advanced business, analytical, and technical knowledge to lead discussions with cross-functional teams.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to tackle medium to large scale business problems.
  • Translate recommendations into communication materials for various management levels.
  • Incorporate visualization techniques to present analysis clearly to less technical audiences.
  • Identify and capture relevant data sources for analysis through exploratory data analysis.
  • Integrate and transform disparate data sources while ensuring data hygiene.
  • Document assumptions, methodology, validation, and testing for compliance and peer reviews.
  • Adopt emerging technologies that enhance scientific methodologies and quantitative approaches.
  • Deliver analysis findings succinctly to influence management and drive business decisions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations.
  • Stay informed on current data and analytics trends and seek opportunities for continuous learning.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified and controlled according to policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative analytics field or 4 years of related experience in statistics, mathematics, or quantitative analytics.
  • 6 years of data & analytics experience or a combination of 4 years of data & analytics experience with 2 years of relevant functional business experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in mathematical and statistical techniques for decision-making.
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, and SQL, SAS, BI tools.
  • Experience with new and emerging data sets and data wrangling techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Property & Casualty (P&C) industry experience with Claims or Auto Physical Damage.
  • Advanced SQL experience; R and Python knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with building dashboards using Tableau.
