About the position

The CDL Delivery Driver at Green Art Plumbing Supply is responsible for safely operating delivery trucks, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of merchandise to various locations. This role emphasizes customer service, attention to detail, and compliance with safety regulations. The driver will load and unload products, manage shipping documentation, and maintain the delivery vehicle in good condition while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Load the truck with Hajoca merchandise for delivery and secure the load properly.
  • Ensure necessary equipment for unloading is available and affix appropriate DOT hazmat placards if required.
  • Understand and review shipping documents associated with deliveries and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload merchandise at delivery sites and obtain signatures for all deliveries as per company policy.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for cash sale deliveries before releasing materials to customers.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies with customers at delivery sites.
  • Load trucks with merchandise from other locations, including vendor pickups and returns.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses during deliveries.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts for safe operating conditions before departure.
  • Complete the Driver's Daily Vehicle Inspection Report at the end of the workday if defects are found.
  • Remove keys from the truck and store them in the approved location at the end of the workday.
  • Complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and management.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) for the vehicle(s) being driven, with hazmat endorsement if required.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver according to Company policy.
  • Pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before starting work and every two years thereafter.
  • Know the laws, rules, and regulations governing driving motor vehicles, particularly commercial motor vehicles.
  • Safely operate delivery vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more.
  • Apply safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Remain calm and function effectively in stressful or emergency situations.
  • Learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment and computer systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
