Responsibilities
- Perform restoration of teeth after preparation.
- Provide routine prophylaxis and placement of sealants and varnish.
- Set up proper instruments and provide chairside assistance.
- Expose and process digital oral x-rays.
- Perform Class IV restorations of teeth after preparation.
- Cement stainless steel crowns.
- Carve and polish cusp protected alloy.
Requirements
- Must have completed an educational program accredited by the Department of Education.
- Must be certified as a radiographer in the field.
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 for GS-05 applicants.
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 for GS-06 applicants.
- Completion of a full 4-year course of study in dental assistant or dental hygiene program.
- Must have a current I.H.S. or State dental radiological health and safety certification.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a dental hygiene or dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association.
- Completion of continuing education courses in expanded functions for dental assistants.
