About the position

The Dental Assistant I/II position at La Clínica de La Raza involves providing essential support to dentists in a community health center setting. The role focuses on enhancing patient care through effective communication, technical skills, and a commitment to quality service. Dental Assistants will manage patient flow, assist in various dental procedures, and maintain a welcoming environment for patients, all while adhering to ethical and professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient flow to maximize access and service by ensuring dental exam rooms are stocked and ready.
  • Prepare patients for dental examinations by taking and recording vital signs and medical/dental histories.
  • Assist the dentist during treatment procedures, including taking dental x-rays.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
  • Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
  • Record treatment information in patient records using Electronic Dental Records system.
  • Perform general office duties such as scheduling appointments and collecting payments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant preferred.
  • Valid Registered Dental Hygienist license or Radiology Certification required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and another language is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of Dental Assistant Training Program preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced clinic environment.
