About the position

This position is a federal role that requires candidates to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs. Candidates must clearly outline their duties and responsibilities in their resume, including the total number of hours worked per week. The position requires compliance with radiological certification standards as outlined in Public Law 97-35, which mandates that individuals administering radiological procedures must meet specific credentialing standards. This includes having completed an accredited educational program and being certified as radiographers in their field.

Responsibilities

  • Administer radiological procedures in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Provide dental assistance in general or specialized dentistry.
  • Set up instruments for dental procedures and provide chairside assistance.
  • Record treatments rendered and provide receptionist services.
  • Expose and process digital oral x-rays.

Requirements

  • Radiological Certification Requirements for GS-3 and GS-4.
  • At least 3 months of general experience for GS-02 or a high school diploma.
  • At least 6 months of general experience for GS-03 or completion of a 1-year dental assistant program.
  • At least 6 months of specialized experience for GS-04, or completion of a 2-year dental assistant program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer service, record-keeping, and clinic maintenance.
  • Completion of a dental hygiene program accredited by the American Dental Association.
