About the position

The Dental Technology Technician at Marquette University is responsible for designing and manufacturing dental restorations for patients in the Graduate Prosthodontics program. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality dental restorations are produced efficiently and accurately, contributing to the overall care of patients. The technician will manage the manufacturing space, oversee milling operations, maintain lab equipment, and assist faculty and residents with their requirements. Responsibilities

  • Manage the program's manufacturing space.
  • Manage the design area assigned to the program.
  • Direct milling operations at the program's lab area.
  • Maintain and calibrate the equipment in the lab.
  • Notify Dental School maintenance and Informatics of required equipment repairs and computer problems.
  • Assist faculty members and residents with all product and individual requirements.
  • Ensure the quality of designs submitted by students prior to the production of prostheses.
  • Manage and process cases submitted by students, residents, and faculty.
  • Accept and forward approved final cases to the milling unit and 3D printers for processing.
  • Train and calibrate staff members on the digital workflow.
  • Educate and calibrate faculty on the designing and production aspects of the digital workflow.
  • Participate in the facilitation of digital dentistry-related CE courses.
  • Order, stock, and maintain a sufficient dental supply inventory for the lab.
  • Process and maintain all documents associated with supply and service orders.
  • Produce samples, models, and prostheses for educational purposes.
  • Produce clinical samples, models, and prostheses for use by students, residents, and faculty.
  • Fabricate samples for scientific research use.
  • Teach in the digital dentistry courses.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of direct experience with digital dental lab workflow, software, and equipment.
  • Experience in designing and manufacturing dental models and prostheses digitally using various design software programs, milling machines, and 3D printers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a dental laboratory technician program with a digital dentistry component or higher.
  • Experience with a wide range of CAD software programs.
  • Experience with a wide range of 3D printers and milling machines.
