About the position

This position is a federal role that requires candidates to demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties associated with the job. Experience can include both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service through National Service programs. Candidates must clearly outline their duties and responsibilities in their resume, including the total number of hours worked per week. The position requires compliance with radiological certification standards as outlined in Public Law 97-35 and 42 CFR Part 75. Applicants must meet specific educational and certification requirements based on the grade level they are applying for (GS-2, GS-3, or GS-4).

Responsibilities

  • Administer radiological procedures in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Provide dental assistance in general or specialized dentistry.
  • Set up instruments for dental procedures and provide chairside assistance.
  • Record treatments rendered and provide receptionist services.
  • Expose and process digital oral x-rays.

Requirements

  • For GS-2: At least 3 months of general experience or a high school diploma.
  • For GS-3: At least 6 months of general experience or completion of a 1-year dental assistant program.
  • For GS-4: 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience in dental assistance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in dental radiological health and safety.
  • Completion of a 2-year dental assistant or dental hygiene program.
