About The Position

Nominal is a venture-backed company focused on building software and data solutions for organizations that test and validate complex systems, such as drones, rocket engines, satellites, and nuclear reactors. The platform helps engineering teams accelerate test data review and analysis, scaling testing campaigns to save time and cut costs. In this role, you will be responsible for deploying and integrating Nominal's technology, tailoring the software platform to fit clients' high-stakes environments. You will lead the strategy to deploy Nominal on customer-owned cloud accounts and air-gapped physical data centers, innovate at the cutting edge of data infrastructure, manage tradeoffs, and solve and streamline issues as they arise.

Requirements

• Proven engineering expertise in developing, deploying, and monitoring infrastructure for high-scale distributed systems or complex tools.
• Experience deploying on-premises and understanding the challenges of air-gapped environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an intellectual curiosity to tackle complex issues.
• Ability to think in systems and see the big picture while focusing on details.
• Dynamic leadership skills with a mix of humility, eagerness to learn, and empathy.
• Solid track record in managing the full cycle from planning to deployment of technical concepts.
• Willingness to frequently travel to spend time with end-users on-site.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Unix/Linux systems.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Minio/S3 Object Storage.
• Experience with Postgres.
• Familiarity with Grafana/Prometheus/Loki/Mimir observability stack.
• Experience with Infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and integrate Nominal's technology from concept to operation on the ground.
• Collaborate with software engineers to design and implement the deployment of Nominal's software to its first air-gapped on-premises environment.
• Lead the strategy to deploy Nominal on customer-owned cloud accounts, air-gapped physical data centers, and hybrid environments.
• Innovate at the cutting edge of data infrastructure, considering high frequency, high volume, streaming data with transformation and alerting capabilities.
• Implement and manage infrastructure as code to ensure efficient and repeatable deployments.
• Understand the tensions between effort vs value, short-term vs long-term growth, and other tradeoffs that may arise.
• Take ownership of issues and solve problems quickly to keep technology ahead of the curve.
