About the position

The Dept Support Specialist at West Virginia University Hospital provides technical expertise in computer networks, hardware, and software to support the Health Sciences Center's alumni programming, political advocacy, and philanthropic efforts. This role involves managing data systems, developing policies for data security, and ensuring the accuracy of alumni records while also supporting various operational needs within the department.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Director of Computer Operations for the Department of Alumni Affairs for the WVU Health Sciences Center.
• Develop policies and procedures for confidentiality of alumni records and data systems security.
• Update computer systems hardware and software to meet strategic planning needs.
• Create data entry policies to ensure completeness and correctness of information.
• Implement computerized tracking systems for alumni retention reporting and outcomes research.
• Develop specialized reports to support alumni program needs and grant applications.
• Assist staff with security clearance and systems training for data entry and management.
• Manage the SOM Alumni Association's annual budget, membership campaign, and awards program.
• Maintain a computer network for communication and operation for Health Sciences Alumni Affairs.
• Oversee hardware and software purchases for Alumni Affairs, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
• Serve as the Alumni CSC for HSC Academic Technologies, installing new hardware and software and training staff.
• Ensure compliance with WVU logo and corporate image standards in alumni publications and materials.
• Design and produce printed materials and manage social media content.
• Train HSC alumni staff in desktop publishing and graphic design.
• Assist with planning and evaluating alumni events and serve as a staff photographer.
• Support philanthropy efforts with timely demographic and educational information.

Requirements

• Associates' degree in Information Technology or related field.
• Three years of desktop PC support or data analytical experience in enterprise computing.
