About the position

The Deputy Assistant Inspector General (DAIG) for Audit in the Inspection Service and Cybersecurity & Technology at the U.S. Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is a senior executive role responsible for leading and overseeing audit activities within the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Cybersecurity & Technology directorates. The DAIG serves as a principal advisor to the Assistant Inspector General for Audit, focusing on identifying strategic risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and enhancing the effectiveness of audit operations. This position requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to manage a geographically dispersed team while fostering relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as principal advisor to the AIGA for all matters related to the audit directorates of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Cybersecurity and Technology.
  • Work with other executives and senior managers to plan and coordinate OIG activities to ensure effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Set the strategic direction for the audit directorates and contribute to strategic organizational and audit planning.
  • Ensure appropriate functions and responsibilities are developed and executed for each directorate in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee all work and demonstrate total authority and responsibility associated with subordinate directorates.
  • Guide, plan, participate in, or execute special projects and/or assigned audits.
  • Provide auditing and technical assistance for assigned areas, evaluating the adequacy of controls related to each audit.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple assignments including all audits and projects.
  • Collaborate with internal Executives, Directors, and Managers OIG-wide on areas of strategic oversight.
  • Establish and review ongoing performance metrics for the DAIG area and both subordinate directorates.
  • Present audit findings or relevant information to internal and external Senior Executives and stakeholders.
  • Keep abreast of emerging audit, business, IT, risk management, and data governance issues.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier-5 Top Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least ten (10) years of professional auditing, evaluation, assessment, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one (1) year at the senior-management level (e.g., GS-15 equivalent Audit Director).
  • Knowledge of Government Auditing Standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, performing, and overseeing complex audits, evaluations, or assessments.
  • Ability to think creatively and address strategic opportunities and challenges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in one or more of the following: CPA, CIA, CGFM, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CISSP, CCSP, GCSA.
  • Prior experience with execution or oversight of information technology or cybersecurity operations within Government or industry.
  • Advanced degree in a related field of study, such as business, law, accounting, or information technology.
