About the position

The Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) at the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) plays a crucial role in overseeing financial operations and risk management. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the DCFO will manage the Risk and Compliance Team and the Corporate Finance Team, ensuring effective budget development and internal oversight of a substantial annual budget. The position involves strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and contributing to corporate initiatives aimed at transforming education systems in lower-income countries.

Responsibilities

  • Deputize for the Chief Financial Officer on all aspects of GPE finances and risk management functions.
  • Lead the budget development and internal oversight, reporting, and reallocation of a unit budget exceeding $60 million per year.
  • Provide technical leadership to the Corporate Finance sub-team responsible for financial planning, management, and analysis of the US$1 billion per year GPE Fund.
  • Directly oversee the Risk and Compliance sub-team responsible for corporate risk management.
  • Manage high-value/high-risk cross-cutting initiatives related to financial and risk management.
  • Drive technical excellence and thought leadership within the Finance & Grant Operations team.
  • Oversee recruitment, coaching, performance evaluation, and career development within the area of responsibility.
  • Promote effective teamwork and collaboration within the team and across the Secretariat.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business administration, finance, assurance and risk management, accounting, or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • At least 12 years of relevant experience in a senior operations, risk, or finance role, including extensive people management experience.
