About the position

The Deputy Chief of Staff at the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Troop Support in Philadelphia, PA, serves as a principal advisor and assistant to the Commander, Deputy Commander, and Executive Director for Contract and Acquisition Management. This role involves overseeing morale, welfare, safety, and security for personnel, ensuring effective coordination of Troop Support operations, and maintaining communication with senior officials and external stakeholders regarding Troop Support matters.

Responsibilities

• Assist and advise the Commander, Deputy Commander, and Executive Director for Contract and Acquisition Management.
• Act as Chief of Staff lead for morale, welfare, safety, security, and facility support for personnel.
• Ensure staff coordination and integration of all Troop Support operations.
• Keep senior leadership informed and recommend changes to priorities and resources as needed.
• Advise and interface with senior level officials from DLA, other DoD organizations, and US Government agencies on Troop Support matters.
• Direct the accomplishment of responsibilities for the Command Support Office and oversee implementation of the Organization Development Plan.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service or equivalent in military or private sector.
• Experience supervising complex acquisition and command support operations.
• Guidance and training experience for personnel in leadership and non-leadership roles.
• Participation in long-range planning of activities, policies, and process improvements.
• Knowledge of compliance with policies and laws in applicable programs/processes.
• Experience in interviewing, hiring, training, and recognizing personnel, with awareness of EEO programs.
• Coordination and communication experience with senior leadership regarding complex supply and acquisition matters.
