About the position

The Deputy Editor for Apple's Health team will lead the development and execution of editorial content aimed at helping people understand their health. This role requires a creative vision and strong leadership skills to manage a team of writers and editors, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and authoritative content. The Deputy Editor will collaborate closely with clinical experts and technologists, maintaining an editorial calendar and overseeing production logistics.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of editors and writers, and coordinate writing assignments
• Hands-on editing for all written material as well as original writing of some stories
• Maintain and lead the editorial calendar
• Oversee the budget and production logistics for content
• Run fact-checking and copy editing
• Work very closely with the clinical team as the basis for expertise in our content
• Focus on diversifying the experiences reflected on our platforms
• Adapt to ambiguity and change during projects

Requirements

• 10+ years as an editorial leader
• Deep experience as a health journalist with a passion for the space
• Strong communication skills, with a penchant for working closely with other teams including data, design, category experts, and engineering
• Established network of writers and editors to call upon
• Ability to supervise the workflow for many projects at once
• Experience delivering on time and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Known for high-quality work that is accurate and authoritative
• Ability to work enthusiastically with a highly collaborative team in an iterative design process
