About The Position

The Deputy Sheriff I position is a critical role within the Orange County Sheriff's Department, which is the fifth largest sheriff's department in the nation. Requirements

  • Graduated from the Orange County Sheriff's Regional Training Academy.
  • Possess a valid California P.O.S.T. Certified Peace Officer Regular Basic Course Academy certificate.
  • Knowledge of criminal law and police patrol procedures.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and apply departmental policies and laws.
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to accurately observe and remember names, faces, numbers, and events.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
  • Skillfully and safely operate police vehicles and firearms.
  • Pass a physical examination for peace officers.
