Design Consultants are evaluated based on various performance categories, including teamwork, customer service, communication skills, decision-making, project development, presentation, and technical skills. They must meet benchmarks such as Minimum Monthly Sales, Home Calls, Accent Sales, Softgood Sales, Be-Backs, PI, Close Ratio, and participation in the Ethan Allen Trade Program. A significant aspect of the role involves leveraging social media and digital channels to promote the Ethan Allen brand, adhering to the company's Social Media Policy. Compensation for this position is primarily incentive-based, with total earnings determined by commissions from sales. In this full-time position, Design Consultants are expected to create design solutions that align with customer preferences and budgets while effectively selling Ethan Allen's products and services. They represent the Ethan Allen brand in all customer interactions, establishing rapport and securing appointments for in-home consultations. Regular home visits are essential to assess customer needs and provide comprehensive design solutions that lead to successful sales. The role also involves grassroots marketing and utilizing various social media platforms to expand the business and educate customers about the complimentary design services offered by Ethan Allen. Staying updated on design and color trends is crucial for creating fashionable solutions that resonate with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Create design solutions that are consistent with the customer's preference and budget.
  • Sell Ethan Allen's products and services.
  • Represent the Ethan Allen brand in all customer interactions.
  • Greet customers professionally in the design center to establish rapport and obtain appointments.
  • Make home calls to evaluate customer needs and provide individualized design solutions.
  • Utilize grassroots marketing and social media platforms to develop and grow the business.
  • Educate customers about the complimentary design service offered by Ethan Allen.
  • Stay current on design and color trends to create fashionable design solutions.
  • Coordinate with the team to provide exceptional service to customers before and after the sale.
  • Participate in all corporate sponsored marketing and training programs as required.
  • Educate customers on all Ethan Allen sponsored finance options available to them.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of the design center's portfolio.
  • Utilize corporate systems and technology to maximize efficiency in designing projects and providing professional service.
  • Enter orders using the retail point of sale system.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly design center projection.
  • Work with the Design Center Leader/Design Sales Leader to develop business and marketing plans.
  • Utilize technology such as 3-D Room Planner and CRM to build relationships with clients.
  • Use social media to enhance personal and company presence and build a network.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a design-related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year of practical interior design experience.
  • Broad knowledge of interior design and effective sales techniques.
  • Working knowledge of online sales and design tools.
  • Good listening skills with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • General understanding of social media and grassroots marketing to develop a book of business.
  • Valid driver's license or an acceptable alternative means of transportation during business hours.
  • Intermediate skill competency using digital floor planning technology; 3D applications are a plus.
  • Experience using interactive technology to view design concepts such as augmented reality and virtual reality.
  • Willingness and capability to learn new technologies.
