About the position

The Utility Designer at Primoris Gas Operations is responsible for providing new distribution and service designs for customers requiring gas and electrical facilities. This role emphasizes cost-effective designs, exceptional customer service, and adherence to regulations and engineering standards. The Utility Designer acts as the primary liaison between customers, construction teams, and utility providers, ensuring projects are managed efficiently from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Provide new distribution and service designs for gas and electrical facilities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between customers, construction teams, and utility providers.
  • Read and interpret various construction drawings to determine job scopes.
  • Manage and report on multiple projects from start to finish.
  • Obtain permits and easements in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Execute contracts and agreements in compliance with administrative instructions.
  • Communicate actively with customers, vendors, and supervisors regarding job aspects.
  • Provide cost-effective estimates using standardized documents.
  • Schedule and attend on-site meetings with customers to determine site-specific requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a design, construction, or related field preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of GIS or similar mapping software is required.
  • Previous utility design experience preferred.
  • Experience working with underground utilities preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual Spanish skills desired but not required.
  • Experience working in SAP platform preferred.
