About the position

The Designated School Official (DSO) at MILA Language Academy plays a crucial role in supporting international students by providing academic and immigration advising. This position involves implementing orientation programs, preparing and tracking immigration documents, and ensuring compliance with U.S. government regulations related to F-1 students. The DSO collaborates with various staff members to maintain accurate student records and facilitate a smooth experience for international students.

Responsibilities

• Understand, follow, and comply with company and US Government policies.
• Implement policies and regulations applicable to F-1 students.
• Deal with SEVIS, USCIS, or any government agency regarding F-1 status matters.
• Monitor students' SEVIS records to minimize glitches.
• Work closely with Admissions and Administrative Staff to ensure student files are complete with required SEVP documents.
• Provide guidance to Admissions Staff and international students or their sponsors.
• Assist school staff with questions related to F-1 rules and regulations.
• Enter student information in SEVIS and create Form I-20.
• Ensure compliance with US Government reporting requirements and deadlines.
• Review, manage, and update student files to ensure compliance with Federal Law.
• Respond to inquiries from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other legal entities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 1 year of experience advising students in an educational setting.
• Experience with student information systems.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
