About the position

The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for providing primary support for all desktop software and hardware issues, as well as maintaining and supporting computer equipment, wireless devices, and telephone systems for all associates of K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc. This full-time position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to assist associates with their technical needs.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the point of contact for all computer and system-related concerns from associates.
  • Complete detailed reports listing requests for technical assistance and steps taken to resolve them.
  • Commit time to learn new technologies as they emerge.
  • Assist management in creating training materials for computer troubleshooting and usage.
  • Organize and file documentation for warranties and instructional guides for computer hardware.
  • Maintain work logs detailing system updates and completion dates.
  • Attend in-person meetings to analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose hardware problems.
  • Resolve technical issues related to network interruptions.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for associate cell phone issues.
  • Install and configure computer systems and applications.
  • Install and configure printer and copier systems, troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Aid in the logistical accounting and disposition of IT-related equipment and maintain an accurate asset inventory.
  • Work independently and under direct supervision, demonstrating a sense of urgency in task completion.
  • Work professionally with individuals of varying skill levels to teach required skills and responsibilities.
  • Attend on-site work during normal business hours and extra time as needed.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of proven experience in a customer-focused position involving desktop support.
  • Time-management and problem-solving skills with the ability to establish deadlines for resolution.
  • Experience with company help desk software and remote access desktop programs.
  • Extensive experience with the Windows Operating System.
  • Ability to work with senior-level executives to resolve IT issues.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid and unrestricted state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and perform routine tasks.
