About The Position

Lynker Technologies is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in providing critical river and flood forecasts. The role involves developing and maintaining water models, collaborating on technical specifications, and ensuring the timely delivery of new features. The engineer will also manage CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes clusters, and cloud infrastructure, while monitoring system performance and implementing enhancements to improve reliability.

Requirements

  • 3 to 6 years supporting DevOps initiatives
  • BS/BA in computer science or similar
  • Analyze system requirements and scaling infrastructure components
  • Experience supporting a MaaS platform
  • Experience supporting a high availability infrastructure
  • Highly proficient with best practices and industry standards

Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of water models, core components and features
  • Create and collaborate on technical specifications for new development initiatives
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure the timely delivery of new modeling features and releases
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of quality and continuous integration tests and practices
  • Assist in the documentation of current and existing features
  • Provide technical communication and collaboration with other teams where appropriate
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing and deployment
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security
  • Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar IaC technologies
  • Collaborate with development teams to define and implement microservices-based architecture and deployment strategies
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to improve system reliability
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and scaling
  • Implement and manage container orchestration platforms and workflows
  • Ensure robust logging, monitoring, and alerting using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack
  • Participate in incident response and post-mortem analysis to improve future systems resilience
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging DevOps tools, best practices, and technologies
