About The Position

The Development Assistant at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business provides comprehensive administrative support for the Advancement team. This hybrid role requires a dynamic individual capable of achieving high-level results in a fast-paced environment, while also being willing to take on additional projects and improve processes. The position involves direct reporting to the Office Manager/Executive Assistant to the Chief Advancement Officer and includes responsibilities such as event planning, data management, and customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in a support role in an academic setting or similar environment
  • Event planning or comparable experience
  • Experience working with clients to address their needs

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile alumni club event expenses, transactions, and budget
  • Help plan and execute special events, such as donor visits and events
  • Answer phones, greet and assist visitors, triage and respond to inquiries about Advancement and Ross programs
  • Schedule appointments with donors, prospects, volunteers, alumni, and staff; prepare meeting materials and reports
  • Create organizational systems for information on shared drives and in Google
  • Responsible for data integrity of databases
  • Create itineraries and donor briefings
  • Work as part of a support staff team to provide excellent customer service to visitors, donors, faculty, and staff
  • Coordinate and balance workload with other team members, provide back-up coverage for other support staff members, and help provide appropriate coverage during absences
  • Process gift checks
  • Provide traditional administrative support for members of the Advancement team, including calendaring, travel arrangements, financial processes, email and phone correspondence, and report preparation
  • Use the University donor database (DART) to confirm donor data, run reports, and modify, update and upload alumni and alumni club data
  • Assist with small scale fundraising campaigns led by Ross School of Business members
  • Other administrative responsibilities as assigned
