About the position

The position is responsible for providing comprehensive support to patients in an Urgent Care facility, ensuring a seamless experience from registration to discharge. This role involves assisting healthcare providers with both front and back office duties, acting as a patient advocate, and maintaining continuous communication with patients, families, and healthcare staff to enhance clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients and guests to the Urgent Care facility and inquires about the purpose of their visit.
  • Collects identification and payor-related documentation, conducts patient registration, and performs point of service collection.
  • Measures and collects patient data including vital signs and other relevant health metrics.
  • Conducts hearing and vision screenings and communicates results to patients.
  • Documents all collected data accurately into the patient medical record.
  • Collects and documents patient reason for visit, chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications for provider review.
  • Completes standard operating procedures to optimize patient comfort and throughput.
  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and performs X-rays following established safety procedures.
  • Documents radiology procedures performed and ensures images are transferred to the radiology group.
  • Prepares patients for examinations and assists providers with patient care.
  • Performs approved lab tests and diagnostic testing as directed by the provider.
  • Organizes, schedules, and communicates referrals to patients.
  • Maintains patient care supplies and medications, ensuring quality checks throughout the facility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited two-year program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent required.
  • VA State Radiologic Technologist Licensure required.
  • American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers) certification required.
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and email required.
  • Health Care facility clinical experience required.
  • Previous experience in phlebotomy, as a medical office assistant, or C.N.A or equivalent experience with an electronic health record required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, urgent care medical specialty, and/or EPIC preferred.
