About The Position

The Die Casting Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining die casting equipment, training lower-level workers, and ensuring quality production. This role involves troubleshooting machine issues, making adjustments to improve casting quality, and performing preventive maintenance. The operator will also lead a team, provide production reports, and uphold quality and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Experience with tool and die operations.
• Proficiency in using calipers and micrometers.
• Mid-level supervising experience.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and quality inspection skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform all die casting attendant jobs as necessary.
• Train lower level workers to operate die casting equipment including the furnace, die casting machine, trimming die, and shot blaster.
• Demonstrate startup/shutdown procedures and machine adjustments to correct process defects.
• Mount, align, and secure die sections in the machine; connect cooling hoses and adjust the cooling system.
• Monitor and adjust machine parameters such as aluminum feed rate and timing cycles.
• Perform related process tasks such as maintaining lubricant levels in dies and on plunger.
• Operate machine to make trial shots and note quality issues.
• Diagnose machine troubles and make appropriate adjustments.
• Operate fork truck to return dies to storage location.
• Work from part drawings, specifications, production schedules, and written instructions.
• Use precise measuring devices to determine machine setup accuracy.
• Perform and train lower level workers to perform minor to medium machine repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Provide ongoing verbal status and written daily production reports to supervisor.
• Lead lower level workers in their job assignments and advise supervisor of attendance and behavioral problems.
• Maintain inventory of consumables and tools and order through supervisor if necessary.
• Perform Quality checks every hour to check production parameters using various precise measuring devices.
• Operate crane to do die changes and ingot loading.
