About the position
Torque by Ryder is seeking a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Mobile Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet in Albuquerque, NM. This position is crucial for maintaining our fleet of Heavy Duty Trucks, ensuring they are in optimal working condition. The technician will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, as well as addressing any mechanical issues that arise. The role requires a hands-on approach, with the technician expected to interact with customers, manage repair schedules, and ensure high-quality service delivery. The technician will work in a mobile capacity, utilizing a company-provided maintenance vehicle, fuel card, tablet, and cell phone to perform their duties effectively. The typical work schedule consists of a 4-day work week with 10-hour days, allowing for a balanced work-life dynamic. The technician will not be on call, which means all scheduled maintenance can be planned in advance. The position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $21.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience, along with a sign-on bonus of $1250 after 30 days and another $1250 after 90 days. Responsibilities
- Interact with non-contractual Ryder customers, exhibiting account management skills to facilitate preventative maintenance and repair issue resolution.
- Coordinate work schedules as required by customers and road test vehicles to identify causes of complaints for repairs.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (PM) and vehicle repairs, including A/C and heater checks, brake inspections, and cargo handling.
- Conduct inspections and repairs on various vehicle systems, including electrical, cooling, and fuel systems.
- Utilize the Shop Management System and electronic documentation to ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
- Maintain service, safety, and environmental records to meet corporate and government requirements.
- Accountable for key maintenance measurements related to inspections and performance of PMs, brakes, tires, and wheels.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or Technical Certification or Post Secondary degree preferred.
- Basic tools required for the job.
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
- One (1) year or more federal PM certification requirements through any combination of classroom training or work experience.
- Proven hands-on mechanic, customer service, and account management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create and maintain professional relationships.
