About the position
The Dietary Aide at Optalis Healthcare plays a crucial role in providing food service to residents, ensuring their nutritional needs are met during meal times. This position involves working closely with cooks and the dietary manager to prepare and serve meals, maintain sanitation standards, and assist with food storage. The role is essential in creating an appealing dining experience for residents.
Responsibilities
- Assist in daily preparation and service of resident meals, including therapeutic and modified consistency diets.
- Ensure meals are appealing, appetizing, and nutritionally sound.
- Work on tray line or in dining rooms serving meals to residents.
- Assist with food storage according to facility procedures and safe food handling guidelines.
- Maintain sanitation standards as defined by facility policy and procedure while in the prep areas of the kitchen as well as the dish room.
- Attend required staff in-services.
- Clean dishes, utensils, and equipment according to sanitation standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to think and work independently and with direction.
- Ability to communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Current identification.
- Excellent personal hygiene.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience in long term care is preferred.
- Prior experience in commercial restaurant is preferred.
