About the position

The Digital Editor at Dartmouth College is responsible for creating, developing, and managing the web and social media presence of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine. This role involves conceiving and executing ideas for various types of content, including stories, photos, videos, graphics, and audio, while also contributing to the print magazine. The Digital Editor will work closely with the Editor to ensure that all content aligns with the magazine's brand image and objectives, while implementing SEO practices and engaging with the audience through social media.

Responsibilities

• Create, develop, and manage content for the magazine's web and social media presence.
• Write, edit, and provide editorial content for the print magazine.
• Design and execute monthly bulk e-mail broadcasts using approved tools.
• Monitor website for quality control, correcting links, typos, and formatting errors.
• Stay updated on digital communications best practices and identify opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or equivalent experience.
• Three years' experience in web publishing and managing online content.
• Knowledge of HTML and experience with content management systems.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with a focus on print.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent computer skills, particularly with CMS like Drupal.
• Understanding of editorial best practices, including SEO.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Drupal.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and content measurement techniques.
• Experience writing and editing original and sourced digital content.
