Digital Media Intern (Summer 2025)

About the position

Intern with WKRG-TV / wkrg.com in Mobile, AL. You will learn so much by observing and working with WKRG's Digital Content Team. You will gain writing, search engine optimization, and live streaming skills. You will gain visual communication skills as you select and design graphics to appear on WKRG.com articles. You will have a blast when you’re not working, as the Gulf Coast has many beautiful beaches, other great attractions to see, and activities to enjoy. Your internship experience could significantly strengthen you as a candidate for full-time positions upon graduation.

Responsibilities

• Observe and work with WKRG's Digital Content Team.
• Gain writing skills for digital content.
• Learn search engine optimization techniques.
• Develop live streaming skills.
• Select and design graphics for WKRG.com articles.

Requirements

• Must be a student seeking academic credit for the internship.
• Must be available for in-person attendance at the Mobile, Alabama studio.
• Must be able to complete necessary forms for academic credit.
• Must have a basic understanding of news writing and reporting for digital platforms.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and adapt to fast-paced assignments.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous coursework in journalism or communication arts.
• Experience with digital content production.
• Familiarity with AP style writing.
