About the position

The Digital Publishing / Media Specialist at COMAP is responsible for leading the revitalization of back publications, enhancing the organization's website, and developing engaging digital media. This role involves collaboration with authors and editors to create high-quality content and graphics that align with COMAP's mission of improving mathematics education. The specialist will also contribute to marketing efforts and manage small projects, ensuring effective outreach and engagement with the audience.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and document current production workflows for journals/publications.
  • Revise old publications to align with organizational goals and transform archived PDFs into accessible digital formats.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the website's functionality and aesthetics.
  • Prepare digital content such as graphics, infographics, and multimedia to support publications and marketing efforts.
  • Liaise with writers and editors to ensure seamless production of digital content.
  • Collaborate on content development that enhances online presence and meets audience needs.
  • Oversee timelines and workflows for updating publications and creating digital media projects.
  • Monitor website performance metrics and use them to inform improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Information Technology or related field.
  • Proven experience in digital publishing, graphic design, and web management within a nonprofit or publishing environment.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or Quark.
  • Experience using a content management system (CMS) such as Joomla.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and/or multimedia editing software.
  • Strong knowledge of digital media landscape, trends, SEO, and content marketing.
  • Outstanding communication skills with a strong emphasis on collaboration and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
