About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at All Ways Caring HomeCare is designed for individuals who are passionate about providing care and support to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. DSPs play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for clients by offering emotional support, training, and assistance with daily living activities in a home-like environment. This part-time position focuses on fostering independence and community participation for individuals served.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license required in most cases.
  • Six months of experience in home management activities.
  • Must meet state-specific requirements for Private Home Care regulations and Personal Care Aide requirements or be a Certified Nursing Assistant on the GA State registry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Physical ability to perform job tasks including bending, stooping, lifting, and walking for extended periods.
  • Must maintain state regulatory certifications as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, grooming, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Monitor and support the development of life skills to promote independence.
  • Foster positive relationships between clients and their support network.
  • Ensure client safety and maintain a safe living environment.
  • Assist with toileting and self-administration of medications as trained.
  • Implement Individual Service Plans and Behavior Support Plans.
  • Manage individual behaviors through prevention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Document services provided and maintain accurate daily records.
  • Perform light housekeeping and meal planning, preparation, and cleanup.
  • Transport clients to community activities and medical appointments.
