About the position

The Director of Business Intelligence, Reporting & Analytics at MassMutual is responsible for leading the strategic vision and execution of visualization, self-service, and automation tools within the organization. This role involves consulting with leaders on business intelligence needs, integrating data, and driving a data-driven culture across the company. The position requires a blend of business acumen and technical skills to navigate the organization and promote effective decision-making through analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of approximately 7 people in the Business Intelligence, Reporting & Analytics department.
  • Drive the strategic vision and execution of visualization, self-service, and automation tools.
  • Consult with leaders to understand business intelligence needs and provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to design solutions that meet business partner needs.
  • Create engaging training materials to improve user experience with BI tools.
  • Evaluate existing tools and provide recommendations for modernization and integration.
  • Establish processes for dashboard/tool requirements intake, delivery, and maintenance.
  • Educate colleagues on data literacy and the importance of a single source of truth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 8+ years of experience with Business Intelligence & Analytics tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, MicroStrategy, and Power BI.
  • 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in both direct and matrixed environments.
  • Proven experience in modernizing and integrating visualization, self-service, or automation tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree, such as a Masters in Business Administration or Business Analytics.
  • Experience leading business intelligence modernization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL, R, Python, or other advanced programming languages.
