About the position

The Finance Director is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for leading the finance function for Business Technology Solutions or a major finance sub-function within a large, complex business. This position supports the HP-CIO and is integral in driving the planning, implementation, and communication of finance initiatives. The Finance Director oversees the Business Technology investment portfolio and manages external vendor relationships, ensuring that the organization’s financial strategies are effectively executed. This role is not only about managing finances but also about being a key advisor to executive management, influencing the strategic direction of the business while ensuring that financial policies align with the overall business objectives. In this role, the Finance Director will develop and maintain financial policies that ensure strategic alignment across the organization. They will lead the planning, design, implementation, communication, and delivery of finance initiatives, ensuring that all financial programs are delivered timely and effectively. The Finance Director will also be responsible for allocating financial and human capital for various programs and projects, driving process improvement, and developing policies that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function. The Finance Director will oversee operational success by aligning strategies and integrating activities with major organizational functions. They will own numerous measurable goals and serve as a key advisor to executive management, influencing the strategic direction of the business. Additionally, this role includes talent management responsibilities such as recruitment, performance management, coaching, and career development, ensuring that the finance team is equipped to meet the organization’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the finance function for a mid-sized, complex business, or for a major finance sub-function within one of the organization's largest, most complex businesses.
  • Develops and leads planning, design, implementation, communication, and delivery of the organization's finance initiatives within area of accountability across the organization.
  • Allocates financial and human capital for programs and projects and ensures timely and effective delivery of financial programs.
  • Drives process improvement and policy development projects that have a significant impact on the function's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversees and manages extensive external vendor relationships, ensuring smooth collaboration and optimized services.
  • Leads implementation of business-wide programs and products, playing a pivotal role in their integration and deployment across the organization.
  • Develops and maintains policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company for all financial and tracking metrics.
  • Oversees operational success, aligns strategies, integrates activities with major organizational functions, and owns numerous measurable goals.
  • Serves as a key advisor to executive management in influencing the strategic direction of the business, while also developing organizational policies and authorizing their implementation.
  • Performs talent management responsibilities including recruitment, performance management, coaching and career development.

Requirements

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 12+ years of job-related and/or management experience, preferably in financial management, internal audit, accounting, or a related field.
