About the position

The Director of Continuing Education at the University of Texas Permian Basin is responsible for planning, implementing, and directing continuing education courses and services. This role involves overseeing the development and management of educational programs, maintaining compliance with accreditation standards, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of continuing education offerings. The director will engage with community organizations, manage budgets, and lead program evaluations to enhance educational opportunities for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and maintain strong relationships with community organizations to identify needs for CE programs.
  • Identify alternative models for developing and implementing educational opportunities.
  • Develop and manage the CE budget and operating plan.
  • Ensure education programs meet standards for continuing education units (CEUs).
  • Identify options for efficiencies and recommend solutions to issues.
  • Develop programs and monitor systems for advanced educational platforms.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop educational materials.
  • Work with subject matter experts to maintain best practices in programs.
  • Develop and implement monitoring mechanisms for program evaluation.
  • Manage and evaluate vendors and consultants related to education services.
  • Work with leadership to narrate funding proposals for programs.
  • Convey a professional image that reflects favorably on the University.
  • Maintain university and accrediting agency standards for CE programs.
  • Track and maintain participant hours for education credit and process evaluations.
  • Maintain regulatory and departmental records in compliance with guidelines.
  • Complete special projects involving analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders and administrative units.
  • Track progress of CE objectives and provide data to the Provost.
  • Facilitate cooperation between various groups for CE events.
  • Inform the Provost about shortfalls in project objectives and advise on corrective actions.
  • Compile and finalize project reports and presentations.
  • Confer regularly with the immediate supervisor to coordinate activities.
  • Conduct extensive outreach to the community for CE events.
  • Serve as Administrator to The Office of Continuing Education and develop an Advisory Committee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, public administration, or related field.
  • Multiple years of progressive professional responsibility in education administration.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative disposition.
  • Experience managing institutional-wide projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with diverse individuals.
  • Commitment to professional excellence.
  • Oriented towards student success.
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in education, counseling, public administration, or related field.
  • Two years of experience working with federal/state projects.
  • Project management certification.
