About the position

The Director of Digital Solutions Engineering at Dover Corp is responsible for leading the research and development of digital products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and executives to innovate and implement solutions that drive revenue potential. The director will oversee the design, development, and deployment of digital solutions while ensuring alignment with company goals. The position requires strategic thinking, effective communication, and the ability to manage ambiguity while fostering a culture of accountability and creativity within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end to end digitization of various Dover Opco products.
  • Lead IoT hardware & embedded software solutions for Dover wide digital initiatives.
  • Act as a technical liaison for 3rd party engineering development, contract manufacturing, and compliance certifications.
  • Maintain rigorous revision controls for documentation of all software and hardware specifications.
  • Follow cutting edge innovations and industry trends to create value-added prototypes relevant to customer use cases.
  • Assist with digital product evaluations as part of M&A activity.
  • Manage vendors and contracts to maintain balanced teams within budget.
  • Provide technical mentorship and project guidance to teams.
  • Establish development and deployment best practices, documentation, and communication companywide.
  • Engage with senior-level corporate and operating company leadership to build relationships and provide executive presence.
  • Hold the team and stakeholders accountable for delivery to commitments.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to the team and elevate team efficiency.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience required; MS is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in the software industry in a fast-paced environment, working through all phases of the software development life cycle.
  • At least 5 years of experience in PLC and embedded software engineering in C/C++.
  • Experience in PCB design and development of released products.
  • Two or more years of related experience in sensor design and integration.
  • Working experience with embedded hardware (e.g., AVR, Cortex-M, Raspberry Pi, or Arduino).
  • Proven experience in product strategy and communication via presentations to business executives and technical audiences.
  • Experience leading architects and large development teams with agile methodologies and automated testing.
  • Experience with various industrial control systems (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell).
  • Familiarity with protocols such as CANbus, BACnet, RS-232, Bluetooth, and Wifi 802.11x.
  • Solid working knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal design methods and best practices.
  • Strong experience with building products with electronic components, sensors, actuators, and radio interfaces.
  • Experience with RF, certifications, measurement, and testing.
  • Familiarity with encrypted polyglot persistence options on IoT devices for secure storage and transmission.
  • Experience with Linux or derivatives (i.e., Yocto, Ubuntu) and Windows is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong experience with technical project management.
  • Effective conflict and impediment management skills.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google.
  • Experience with databases such as SQL Server, MySQL.
