About the position

The Director of Finance and Administration for Student Life at Villanova University is responsible for providing financial and organizational leadership, strategic guidance, and advisory services to all departments within the Division of Student Life. This role involves directing and supervising budgetary and administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with policies, and collaborating with various campus offices to enhance financial and operational efficiency. The Director serves as a principal advisor to the Vice President and is integral to the leadership team, focusing on continuous improvement and professional development of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial and organizational leadership to the Division of Student Life.
  • Direct and supervise all budgetary and administrative tasks for the Division.
  • Serve as a principal advisor to the Vice President and leadership team, conducting analysis and creating proposals.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement the Division's operating, restricted, endowment, and capital budgets.
  • Manage contract management processes in collaboration with General Counsel.
  • Partner with Human Resources on staffing requirements and personnel concerns.
  • Develop and communicate financial and budgetary policies and procedures to Division leadership.
  • Oversee facilities planning and related projects within the Division.
  • Collaborate with various campus offices on financial, contract, and risk management matters.
  • Maintain a budgeting and reporting system for Division leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant financial management experience, preferably in non-profit or higher education.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of budgeting, operating, facilities, and staffing policies.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and perform complex analysis using advanced spreadsheets.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • MBA or related master's degree preferred.
