About the position

As the Finance Director at Mainstream Nonprofit Solutions, you will play a crucial role in leading a dedicated team focused on addressing the unique needs of children and families in the community. This position offers remote capabilities, allowing you to work flexibly while making a significant impact. Your responsibilities will include supervising the Finance Department staff and ensuring that all financial activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner. You will oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions, while also developing and maintaining departmental priorities and plans. In this role, you will conduct in-depth financial analyses of various agency departments and prepare comprehensive financial management reports for review and action. Your leadership will be essential in providing guidance, support, and coaching to finance staff, fostering their professional development. Compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing business operations is paramount, and you will ensure that all organizational financial activities adhere to these standards. Additionally, you may be required to travel for meetings, training, or other business-related activities, necessitating a valid driver's license and adherence to agency underwriting standards. Your work will directly contribute to making a difference in the lives of children and families, aligning with the organization's mission to leverage community strengths for positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Finance Department staff.
  • Direct day-to-day financial activities to ensure completion, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
  • Develop and maintain Finance Department priorities and plans.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis of Agency departments.
  • Prepare financial management reports for review and action.
  • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to finance staff.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing financial activities.
  • Travel to attend meetings, training, or conduct business off-site.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in general accounting.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • CPA license preferred.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies.
