About the position

As the Finance Director at Mainstream Nonprofit Solutions, you will play a crucial role in leading a dedicated team focused on addressing the unique needs of children and families within the community. This position is not just about managing finances; it is about making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. You will supervise the Finance Department staff, ensuring that all financial activities are executed accurately and in a timely manner. Your responsibilities will include overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions, as well as developing and maintaining departmental priorities and plans. You will conduct in-depth financial analyses of various agency departments and prepare comprehensive financial management reports for review and action. In this role, you will provide guidance, support, and coaching to finance staff, fostering their professional development. Compliance is key, and you will ensure that all organizational financial activities adhere to local, state, and federal regulations governing business operations. The position may require travel to attend meetings, training sessions, or to conduct business off-site, necessitating a valid driver's license and adherence to agency underwriting standards. Your leadership will not only enhance the financial health of the organization but also contribute to the overall mission of supporting children, youth, and families in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Finance Department staff.
  • Direct day-to-day financial activities to ensure they are complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
  • Develop and maintain Finance Department priorities and plans.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis of Agency departments.
  • Prepare financial management reports for review and action.
  • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to finance staff.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing financial activities.
  • Travel to attend meetings, training, or conduct business off-site.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in general accounting.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • CPA license preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Board of Finance Directors.
  • Familiarity with computers and their capabilities.
