About the position

As Finance Director at Mainstream Nonprofit Solutions, you will play a crucial role in leading a dedicated team focused on addressing the unique needs of children and families in the community. This position offers remote capabilities, allowing you to work flexibly while making a significant impact. Your responsibilities will include supervising the Finance Department staff and ensuring that all financial activities are completed accurately and on time. You will oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions, while also developing and maintaining departmental priorities and plans. Your expertise will be essential in conducting in-depth financial analyses of various agency departments and preparing comprehensive financial management reports for review and action. In this role, you will provide guidance, support, and coaching to finance staff to foster their professional development. It is imperative that all organizational financial activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations governing business operations. You will also be required to travel for meetings, training, or to conduct business off-site, necessitating a valid driver's license and adherence to agency underwriting standards. Your work will directly contribute to making a difference in the lives of children and families, reinforcing the organization's commitment to community strength and support.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Finance Department staff.
  • Direct day-to-day financial activities to ensure they are complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Be responsible for accounts receivable, payable, and payroll functions.
  • Develop and maintain Finance Department priorities and plans.
  • Complete in-depth financial analysis of Agency departments.
  • Prepare financial management reports and submit for review/action.
  • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to finance staff.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing financial activities.
  • Travel to attend meetings, training, or conduct business off-site.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in general accounting.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • CPA license preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Board of Finance Directors.
  • Familiarity with computers and their capabilities.
