About the position

The Director of Housing Facilities at California State University, Long Beach, is responsible for overseeing the operations of Housing and Residential Life facilities. This role includes managing maintenance, custodial services, and capital projects, ensuring effective staffing, training, and compliance with safety standards. The Director plays a key role in budget management and project oversight, while also fostering an inclusive and equitable environment for campus life.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate managerial and administrative activities of the HRL Facilities Unit, including Custodial Services and Maintenance.
• Lead the facilities maintenance and custodial services teams in delivering integrated facilities management.
• Manage staffing recruitment, including interviewing, selecting, training, and evaluating personnel.
• Oversee routine maintenance, trouble calls, and emergency repairs for various structural components in HRL facilities.
• Manage budget resources allocation for planned and operational Facilities services.
• Regularly communicate with building representatives to establish working relationships and resolve conflicts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of housing, student services, or related university experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of facilities management experience required.
• Minimum of 5 years of custodial services management experience preferred.
• Experience with budget management and supervising in a unionized environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
• Familiarity with OSHA certifications and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of ADA requirements and building codes.
