About the position

The Department of Medicine at the University of Missouri is seeking an experienced Director I Finance to lead the operational and financial activities within the department. This role is crucial in ensuring that the financial strategies align with the goals and objectives of both the department and the School of Medicine. The Director will be responsible for overseeing internal and external financial reporting, accounting, and auditing processes, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. In this position, the Director will direct and oversee the department's fiscal accounts, managing both internal and external revenue and expenses. A key responsibility will be to prepare the yearly annual budget for the department, providing high-level monthly variance reports that summarize key events, financial performance, and any changes or trends affecting the budget. The Director will work closely with the Senior Director and Chair to ensure that the budget aligns with the department's strategic plan. The successful candidate will build a cohesive financial team within the largest department in the School of Medicine and foster relationships both within and outside the organization. Collaboration with external partners and other internal teams will be essential to accomplish the school's mission. The Director will also be accountable for the outcomes and achievements of their designated team, ensuring that resources are coordinated effectively and progress is monitored to achieve successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience in finance or a related field.
