About the position

The Director Network Product Owner at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a pivotal role responsible for defining and executing the enterprise network strategy. This position focuses on enhancing data transmission pathways within a complex digital landscape while ensuring operational efficiency and security. The Director will lead a cross-functional team to develop scalable and secure network solutions, modernize capabilities for cloud adoption, and shift towards a software-defined networking (SDN) strategy. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to improve clinical, research, and business outcomes, while also managing financial governance and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business, research, and clinical stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage modern networking technologies.
  • Develop a network strategy and roadmap aligned with digital aspirations.
  • Drive end-to-end engineering efforts for networking products including LAN/WAN, firewall, and wireless technologies.
  • Establish technological prerequisites for operational excellence of network solutions.
  • Define architectural standards for networking solutions and develop roadmaps for purpose-built networks.
  • Lead a high-performing, agile network engineering team to deliver technology solutions.
  • Own the profit & loss (P&L) for networking solutions and develop annual budgets.
  • Develop CHOP's Software Defined Networking (SDN) strategy and lead strategic adoption.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, Information Technology or similar field.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Systems, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field (preferred).
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a management role leading enterprise network engineering teams.
  • Expert-level understanding of enterprise LAN/WAN networks utilizing Cisco technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing enterprise firewall technologies and network segmentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Healthcare and/or life sciences experience.
  • Knowledge of modern network frameworks such as EVPN-VXLAN.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
