About the position

This is an in-office role in the Dallas area. The position involves leading, developing, and mentoring a high-performing accounting and finance team, providing strategic financial guidance, overseeing financial systems and processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role also includes managing cash flow, preparing bank covenant reports, and implementing improvements in accounting systems and workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior leadership to align financial strategies with the organization's broader goals and objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to support business growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Oversee the execution of financial systems and processes, ensuring operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Lead and manage the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes across the organization.
  • Perform in-depth financial analysis, identifying trends, variances, and areas for potential cost optimization or operational improvement.
  • Present comprehensive financial reports and insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Continuously improve financial reporting practices to ensure accuracy and timeliness in data delivery.
  • Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and monthly/annual close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, GAAP, and tax regulations.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risks.
  • Lead the preparation for external audits, ensuring accurate financial statements and timely filing.
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity, ensuring that the company maintains adequate working capital for operational needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement cash management strategies to optimize fund usage and capital allocation.
  • Monitor and track compliance with financial covenants outlined in loan agreements.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on covenant compliance to stakeholders, ensuring the company meets financial targets set by lending institutions.
  • Address any breaches of financial covenants and work with relevant teams to implement corrective actions if necessary.
  • Identify and implement improvements in accounting systems, financial reporting processes, and workflows to increase operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and financial technologies to enhance reporting capabilities and process automation.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to build and maintain a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support team members' professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, HR, and IT, to ensure alignment of financial and operational goals.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to department heads, providing insights and support on financial matters.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years of management experience in a senior leadership role, such as Controller or Finance Manager.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams, with a strong track record of mentoring, coaching, and building high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead complex financial systems, processes, and projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software (ERP systems, Excel, etc.) and reporting tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a high-growth or startup environment.
  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, or international finance operations.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Industry certifications.
